George Kottaras hit .210 with 25 hits in 119 at bats over 33 games with the Portland Beavers. He had ten doubles, one triple, two homers and 17 RBI's while scoring 14 runs. he also drew 12 walks while whiffing 30 times.
Kottaras was promoted to Triple-A Portland on July 11, 2006. He hit .276 with 19 doubles, eight homers, and 33 RBI's for Double-A Mobile. He also added 50 walks while striking out 68 times in 78 games.
Kottaras was named to the Southern League All-Star team in 2006 and was also named to the Futures World-Team for 2006. He homered off Phil Hughes in the Futures Game and added a double off Homer Bailey.
2005
Kottaras hit .303 with 29 doubles, nine homers and 50 RBI's in 91 games for the Lake Elsinore Storm in 2005. He also drew 50 walks while striking out 60 times for a .390 OBP.
Kottaras hit .287 with seven doubles, two homers and 15 RBI's in 29 games for the Mobile BayBears in 2005. He also drew 19 walks and whiffed 23 times for a .397 OBP.
2004
Kottaras was a model of consistency in 2004. He is the only member of the Padres organization with a significant number of at bats to have more walks, 51, than strikeouts, 41. He also hit .310 with seven homers and 41 RBI's. Kottaras reached base safely in each of his last 25 games and went to the Olympics to represent Greece. He opened the playoffs by going 4-4 with two RBI's. |
