| Drafted by the Cleveland Indians with the 13th overall pick in the 1991 amateur draft. Became a free agent in 2000 and would signed 8-year, $160 million deal in December of 2000. Has established himself as one of the best hitters in the game, despite having a tendency not to hustle. Seven time All-Star, has finished top ten in the AL MVP award balloting six times, and top ten in batting average six times. Hit .325 with 37 homers and 104 RBI in 2003 while leading Red Sox to ALCS. |
